The UCLA Physiology Outreach Program accepts applications once a year (in early spring) for positions in the summer of the same year. Internship opportunities are hosted by UCLA professors and last for one month during the summer. The internship experience will include basic instruction in scientific method, observation and hands-on experience in conducting various types of commonly performed experiments, and mentorship from professors, post-graduates and graduates in the possibilities available in science as a career. Our ultimate goal is to foster the thrill of scientific discovery in students, and to impart both in them and their communities, the importance of scientific research in novel discovery, healthcare and medical practice.
Students must first engage their respective science teachers and/or principals prior to applying. For more information, please email the directors Dr. Bal Khakh and Dr. Tom Vondriska.
